Remembering the Victims of #IranProtests - Toronto (2022)

This project was a deeply personal and political act of remembrance and resistance. The wearable art piece was conceived to honor the victims of the 2022 Iran protests, a movement that arose in response to systemic oppression and human rights violations.

The garment itself became a mobile memorial, featuring the names of the deceased printed across its surface. Each name symbolized a life lost, transforming the piece into a powerful, tangible representation of the individuals behind the protests. By wearing this piece during rallies and public demonstrations in Toronto, it became a visible and moving tribute that resonated with audiences, both as a reminder of the loss and as a call to action.

Beyond its commemorative function, the piece served as a tool for activism, sparking dialogue about the importance of human rights, justice, and freedom. Its presence at public events helped raise awareness of the ongoing struggle in Iran, connecting the local and global communities in solidarity with the movement.

Through this project, art and activism intertwined to create a platform for storytelling, remembrance, and collective empowerment, ensuring that the victims’ names and stories were not forgotten.
